Etsy.com

What are your thoughts on Etsy.com? As a seller or a buyer.

I have been thinking about opening one and selling (or at least trying to sell) homemade bags and crocheted dishrags and perhaps other stuff.

But those things are already out there on etsy.com. Lots of them.

I don't know. I would love to hear your thoughts . . .

I would love to buy one of your homemade grocery bags!!! I've bought a few things from ETSY before and I haven't been disappointed. Just make sure to advertise your store enough and we'll all make sure to stop by! :-) Go for it!

I too had thought about opening a shop and selling purses & crocheted items on Etsy. But you are right there are a lot of others out there. But they're out there so they must be selling!? That's what I think. I didn't do it just because I'd be terrible at keeping up with orders if it took off, you know? I think you would do really well. One thing I did notice is that some people charge a lot for their products, so if you're just a smidgen cheaper, you might sell more. Keep us posted as to what you do! I'd definitely check it out and suggest it to friends!

I'm kind of disappointed with it. I don't have my prices set very high at all, and I haven't sold a thing. Thankfully, I've put most of that stuff on there until a fall craft show, where I hope to sell the rest of it.

I love Etsy! I'm a big buyer and a bigger supporter. There can never be too many shops! If it's only a hobby, who cares how much traffic it sees to start, right? It's like blogging - it takes time to build a following.

I have no clue on selling, but I love to browse. That said, I haven't bought anything, but have only copied a few pillows...shrugs sheepishly.

I'm not a seller, but I'm an avid Etsy stalker. I say, give it a try! What's the worst that could happen! Your items will be unique because they are YOURS :-)

My friend sells her jewelry on Etsy and at our Farm & Art markets. She's 22 with an art degree and a very successful living!

I think your bags are awesome and you can never have too many dish rags. My husband sent me an article spoofing etsy saying it promised woman the chance to get rich and stay home. I don't think that is true. I think it is a fun popular site that is like the craft fair year round. I think it would be awesome for you to start a store and just set up with a few items and see how it goes. I still need to set up for my cards. I was thinking once I open shop I would have a giveaway on my blog.
